Diagnostic Code 7310 · 38 CFR §4.114
This diagnostic code covers the lasting effects of injuries to the stomach that occurred during military service. These injuries can come from penetrating wounds (shrapnel, gunshot), blunt abdominal trauma from explosions or vehicle accidents, or surgical complications from emergency procedures in the field. Even after the initial injury heals, veterans often experience chronic digestive problems including pain, difficulty processing certain foods, adhesions from scar tissue, and impaired stomach function that persists for years or permanently.
