VA Disability Rating for Stricture of the Rectum and Anus (DC 7333)

Diagnostic Code 7333 · 38 CFR §4.114

What Is It?

Stricture of the rectum and anus means an abnormal narrowing of the rectal or anal canal that makes it difficult to pass stool. This can result from scarring after injuries to the pelvic area, surgical complications, radiation treatment, inflammatory bowel disease, or infections. Veterans may develop strictures from combat injuries, surgical procedures during service, or as complications of other service-connected conditions. The narrowing causes painful bowel movements, straining, bleeding, and can progress to complete obstruction in severe cases.
