VA Disability Rating for Pruritus Ani (DC 7337)

Diagnostic Code 7337 · 38 CFR §4.114

What Is It?

Pruritus ani is chronic, persistent itching around the anal area. While it might sound minor, severe cases involve intense itching that disrupts sleep, makes it impossible to sit comfortably, and leads to skin breakdown from constant scratching. Veterans may develop this condition from parasitic infections acquired during deployments, as a side effect of antibiotics used during service, from hemorrhoids or other anorectal conditions, or from chronic moisture and irritation in field conditions. The constant itching and need to address it can be socially debilitating.
