Diagnostic Code 7301 · 38 CFR §4.114
Peritoneal adhesions are bands of scar tissue that form between abdominal organs and the inner lining of the abdominal wall. They commonly develop after abdominal surgery, abdominal infections, or abdominal injuries. These adhesions can cause chronic pain, bowel obstruction, and digestive problems by binding organs together and restricting their normal movement. Veterans who had abdominal surgery or injuries during service frequently develop adhesions that cause long-term symptoms.
