VA Disability Rating for Urethra Fistula (DC 7519)

Diagnostic Code 7519 · 38 CFR §§4.115a

What Is It?

DC 7519 covers fistula of the urethra — an abnormal opening from the urethra to the skin surface or another body structure. The CFR assigns a 100% rating for multiple urethroperineal fistulae. Otherwise, urethral fistula is an abnormal opening from the urethra to the skin surface or to another body structure. This creates a passage through which urine can leak outside the normal urinary pathway. In veterans, urethral fistulas may develop from combat injuries affecting the pelvic region, catheterization complications, surgical procedures, or chronic infections. The condition can cause persistent urinary leakage, difficulty with normal voiding, recurrent infections, and significant impact on quality of life.
