Chronic Prostatitis, Urethritis, Epididymitis, Orchitis — VA Rating (DC 7525)

Diagnostic Code 7525 · 38 CFR §§4.115b

What Is It?

DC 7525 covers chronic prostatitis, urethritis, epididymitis, and orchitis (unilateral or bilateral). These are inflammatory and infectious conditions affecting the prostate, urethra, epididymis (the tube storing and carrying sperm), and testes respectively. The VA rates these conditions as urinary tract infections when chronic. For tubercular infections, the VA rates under the tuberculosis schedule instead. This condition causes recurring pain, swelling, and tenderness in the scrotal area. In veterans, it may develop from untreated or recurrent infections during service, sexually transmitted infections, urinary tract infections, or trauma to the groin area. When the condition becomes chronic, it involves repeated flare-ups that interfere with daily activities, physical exercise, and work capacity. The VA rates this based on how frequently the condition recurs and the treatment required.
