VA Disability Rating for Ventricular Arrhythmias (DC 7011)

Diagnostic Code 7011 · 38 CFR §4.104

What Is It?

Ventricular arrhythmias are abnormal heart rhythms that start in the lower chambers (ventricles) of the heart. These can range from relatively benign premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) to life-threatening ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation. Veterans may develop these conditions due to heart damage from service-related injuries, exposures, physical stress, or other cardiac conditions that began during military service. Sustained or symptomatic ventricular arrhythmias can significantly limit physical activity and may require medication, ablation procedures, or an implantable defibrillator.

Evidence Needed

Electrophysiology study results or Holter monitor recordings showing the arrhythmia type and frequency, Echocardiogram with ejection fraction and structural findings, Stress test results or documented METs estimation, Emergency room records if you have had episodes of sustained arrhythmia or cardiac arrest, Records of ablation procedures or implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) placement, Medication list showing antiarrhythmic drugs and dosages, Service medical records or nexus letter linking the arrhythmia to service
