Diagnostic Code 8628 · 38 CFR §4.123
Neuritis of the obturator nerve (DC 8628) refers to inflammation of this nerve, causing pain, tenderness, and impaired function along its distribution. The obturator nerve passes through the obturator foramen in the pelvis and innervates the adductor muscles of the inner thigh, which pull the leg toward the midline. It also provides sensation to the inner thigh. Under VA regulations (38 CFR §4.123), neuritis characterized by loss of reflexes, muscle atrophy, sensory disturbances, and constant pain is rated on the same scale as incomplete paralysis under DC 8528. The maximum rating for neuritis without organic changes cannot exceed the moderate incomplete paralysis level.
