Diagnostic Code 5308 · 38 CFR §4.73

What Is It?

Muscle Group VIII includes the extensor muscles of the wrist, fingers, and thumb located on the outer side of the forearm. These muscles straighten the wrist and fingers and allow you to extend your hand and open your grip. They work in coordination with the flexor muscles to control all hand and wrist movements. When these muscles are damaged, you have difficulty opening your hand, releasing objects, and stabilizing the wrist during gripping activities.
