Diagnostic Code 5302 · 38 CFR §4.73
Muscle Group II consists of the extrinsic muscles of the shoulder girdle responsible for depression of the arm from the vertical overhead position and downward rotation of the scapula. This group includes the pectoralis major (clavicular portion), latissimus dorsi, teres major, pectoralis minor, and rhomboids. These muscles are critical for pulling movements, climbing, and bringing the arm down from an overhead position. Military injuries to this group commonly result from penetrating wounds to the chest and upper back area.
