VA Disability Rating for Malignant Bone Tumors

Diagnostic Code 5015 · 38 CFR §4.71a

What Is It?

Malignant bone tumors include cancers that originate in the bone such as osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, and Ewing sarcoma, as well as cancers that have spread to bone from other sites. These are serious conditions that typically require surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or a combination of treatments. The resulting disability can be severe, including limb amputation, joint replacement, chronic pain, and significant functional limitation. Veterans may develop bone cancers from exposure to ionizing radiation, certain chemicals during service, or as a result of other service-connected conditions.
